Getting Up

As horse owners there are times that we fall off the back of our horses and in that moment, we must decide if we are going to get back on or stay where we fell. I remember being around five years old riding my mom’s buckskin horse named Bambi. As I was riding Bambi, she began bucking nonstop. I held on for as long as I could, but eventually I fell off. In that moment I was determined to get back on and each time I have been thrown off the horse, I got back on.

While we journey through life there are many instances where we get thrown off. We get knocked down and we must decide to get back up again. Horses allowed me to ensure that I will always get back up.

When we allow horses into our lives or allow horses into the lives of our young children, as my mother did for me, they can instill life lessons into our way of thinking that will follow us throughout our lifetime. I encourage you to let horses into your life or into your child’s life and in doing so, you or your children may learn to always get back up.
