Free Range

There are many times that we as horse owners think that it would be best for our horses if they were in their stalls where we could be sure that they are safe and warm. Although this crosses my mind every now and then, this is not the case. Not once in my life have, I ever stalled one of my horses, now I know some of you may think I am insane, but I haven’t.

My horses have always been given the option to be free range. They run around the pasture all day, eat, rest, repeat and when they are ready, they can go to the barn to get out of the sun or away from some flies.

I do not enforce any restraints to the horse’s pasture as I would not want any restraints on my ability to go outside. Quite frankly this can be related to what is happening in the world now around us. There are times that I spend the day cooped up in the house, but I feel so much more alive when I can get outside and stretch my legs. I encourage you all to let them horses out of their stalls and for you to get out of the house and go for a walk. Letting horses be horses and getting some fresh air yourself will only benefit you in the long run.
