Being able to be a part of a horse’s life for many years is something that I think many of us treasure, I know that I do anyway. My parents bought my horse, Mya, for me when I was 11 years old, she was 9. Mya is now 20 years old and I am 23. Being able to experience life together has been great. Her and I have been able to connect with one another which has made our experiences through life and riding time so much better.
Now that Mya is 20 years old she is still as spirited as ever, but we have ran into some health issues recently, such as a major cracked hoof that’s been on the mend since August of 2019 and an injured eye that’s being taken care of. Now that Mya is older it seems as if little things like these are happening more and more, but I will do whatever it takes to ensure that she is taken care of as well as she can be.
Just like in our lives, our family members and those that we love continue to get older, but we ensure that they have the best care that they can get. Always remember that the horses we own need that love and care as well no matter how old they get.
